Over the past few months, I’ve been thinking a lot about my work and impact as a dog professional. It’s been a process of going over the WHYs and HOWs of my work. Narrowing down and opening up at the same time (if this makes sense). This is when I realized that I needed a new name that reflected better the depth of my mission and the unique lens I bring to the world of dogs.
As a neuroscientist and behavior professional, I’ve come to see just how powerful it is to bridge science and lived experience with our dogs. Dog guardians and professionals want to understand the real science behind what they’re doing. Now more than ever. And I am not the only one to see that.
Unfortunately, “science” has become a buzzword, often used to justify oversimplifications, intellectual shortcuts, and harmful ideologies. It gets wrapped up in ego and used to claim superiority, rather than to foster true understanding.
Meanwhile, people are craving depth and knowledge. They don’t need “gods in white” but someone to walk alongside them, nourish their capacity to learn, and explain things with clarity while remaining humble (because there is always more to understand than we think there is!).
That’s how Canine Mindscape was born.
It’s a name that speaks to the heart of my work: exploring the inner landscape of the canine mind. Because dogs are sentient individuals with rich emotional lives and cognitive abilities that mirror our own more than we often realize. This mindscape is worth exploring. And when we do, it leads us somewhere magical: to deeper connection, mutual understanding, and a shared life built on respect. My new logo symbolizes that very idea. It’s a nod to the neuroscience that informs everything I teach, but also to the bond at the center of it all.
This rebrand has helped me refine my message, recognize the strength of what I already built, and trust that what I have to offer is meaningful to others. And although it feels natural and right to step into this new identity, I am also aware that this is just one of many crossroads on a learning journey never ends, and will bring many more surprises.
If you’ve been with me since the days of La Pataca — thank you! I hope Canine Mindscape will resonate with you as much as it does with me. And if you’re new here, welcome! Let this be your invitation to join in, explore with curiosity, and maybe even reinvent yourself when the time feels right.
